Safe Space Ally Training

Many students, staff, leaders, and community members want to be considered allies for the LGBTQ+ community, and participating in Safe Space Ally Training is a great way to start. The Safe Space Ally Training, to be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 9am-11am, will be presented by Ken Ditlevson, M.Ed., who is the Director of the LGBTQ+ Center, Division of Student Life, at Kent State University. Through this interactive and engaging training, participants will learn about bias, stereotypes, vocabulary, and best practices for handling gender and sexuality topics. All attendants will receive a Safe Space Ally sign for their home or office, indicating both their support of the LGBTQ+ community and their knowledge of basic gender and sexuality concepts.

This training also qualifies for 2 hours/units of Beyond Compliance Certification.

The event is free and open to the public, however registration in advance is required. Registration is limited to 60 participants. Please email registration requests or questions to events@akronfcc.org.
