The 2026–2027 Music@AkronFCC Concert Season is here! We’re thrilled to welcome you to another exciting season of music, featuring eight amazing musical opportunities that showcase a wide variety of performers, styles, and sounds. Whether you’re a longtime supporter of the arts or simply looking for something beautiful, inspiring, and engaging to experience in our community, we hope you’ll join us throughout the season. Each concert is an opportunity to gather together, enjoy exceptional music, and celebrate the vibrant arts and culture scene here in Akron.

VGS Jazz!
Video Game Jazz Ensemble
September 19, 2026: 7:30 PM

The Video Game Symphony‘s new Jazz Ensemble performs some of the smoothest music from your favorite video games. Not familiar with video games? No problem! You’re sure to enjoy the music as standalone works of art. The concert will be presented cafe-style, with refreshments provided.

This concert is free and open to the public. A freewill offering will be taken to support the Music@AkronFCC Concert Series.

October 4, 2026: 4:00 PM

Former AkronFCC organist and choir director Valerie Thorson gives a concert in our Meetinghouse to help us celebrate the 20th anniversary of our organ’s restoration! Reception to follow. Thorson is joined by George Pope, flute, and Dave Aberth, vocals.

This concert is free and open to the public. A freewill offering will be taken to support the Music@AkronFCC Concert Series.

Max Johnson Trio
November 6, 2026: 7:30 PM

Double bassist and composer Max Johnson presents his trio with Anna Webber (saxophone, flute) and Michael Sarin (drumset). This concert will traverse tightly knit, grooving music to patient, sprawling improvised textures, blending their unique sounds to create something truly special.

This concert is free and open to the public. A freewill offering will be taken to support the Music@AkronFCC Concert Series.

'Tis the Season
December 6, 2026: 6:00 PM

Ring in the holidays with music, tradition, and joy! Under the artistic direction of faculty members Dr. T.J. Harper and Dr. Christopher Blaha, the UA School of Performing Art’s Choir and Brass students are set to inspire guests with the 10th annual ’Tis the Season concert.

This concert is free and open to the public; no RSVP required. A freewill offering will be taken to support the UA School of Performing Arts.

Cleveland Repertory Orchestra
February 20, 2027: 7:00 PM

The Cleveland Repertory Orchestra, conducted by Matthew Salvaggio, presents its first concert outside of the greater Cleveland area. Works include Jennifer Higdon’s Harp Concerto with harpist Juan Riveros, and Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8

This concert is free and open to the public. A freewill offering will be taken to support the Music@AkronFCC Concert Series.

CLE Concierto
April 10, 2027, 6:00 PM

CLE Concierto presents a lively concert from 18th-century Scotland, where the elegance of Baroque music met the rhythmic vitality of traditional folk tunes.

This concert is free and open to the public. A freewill offering will be taken to support the Music@AkronFCC Concert Series.

Summit Choral Society
May 1, 2027 4 & 7 PM

The Summity Choral Society presents a double feature concert on May 1, 2027! First at 4pm is the Children’s Choir followed by the Metropolitan Chorus at 7pm.

Those in the AkronFCC Congregation are able to attend this concert for free. Contact events@akronfcc.org for more information on how to reserve your free ticket.
