CHILDCARE WORKER
AkronFCC is looking for a dependable person to support our children’s programs on Sunday mornings, during Wednesday evening faith enrichment programs, and at other church events year-round.
This position will be responsible for creating an affirming and safe environment where children are cared for and nurtured and where the Christian faith is practiced and taught. Additional duties include ensuring the security and safekeeping of all infants and children, including completing and filing all necessary paperwork and receiving and sharing information with supervisor and parents/guardians. Be responsible for keeping the childcare rooms clean and safe both before, during, and after shifts. This position would also provide a warm and hospitable welcome for prospective and returning families, while working cooperatively with other staff and volunteers.
The ideal candidate will be trustworthy, responsible, and self-motivated, and exhibit positive interpersonal skills, with an ability to maintain confidentiality and objectivity, while displaying enthusiasm for the church and its mission.
Additional Qualifications and Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Previous experience in childcare required
- First Aid and CPR certification, preferred
- Experience in hospitality or facility cleaning
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for extended periods of time
- Must have the ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and complete mobility for required activities
- Dependable, responsible, and self-motivated. Must have regular timely attendance during stated or negotiated hours
- Able to work effectively with diverse cultures and ethnicities, all levels of socioeconomic status, gender identities, and sexual orientations
Required Hours:
Sundays, 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (including holidays); Wednesdays (September-May), 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.; and up to seven (7) evenings per year including but not limited to Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Christmas Eve.
Additional Hours Available:
Various events requiring staff may occur throughout the year including but not limited to weddings, funerals, memorial services, and concerts.

Coordinator for Children's & Family Ministry
AkronFCC is looking for a dependable person to coordinate and lead our children’s programs on Sunday mornings, during Wednesday evening faith enrichment programs, and at other church events year-round.
This position will be responsible for creating an affirming and safe environment where children are cared for and nurtured and where the Christian faith is practiced and taught. As our Coordinator for Children’s & Families Ministry, you would be responsible for putting together programming for the children and young families of our church family. Much of this programming is currently done on Sunday mornings from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., and Wednesday evenings 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. This job would include nursery care (as needed), creating the lessons for our Children’s Faith Adventures, and supporting and supervising two nursery workers.
Other responsibilities include: cleanliness and decoration of children’s rooms and nursery, working with the parents of our children to build a vibrant and growing ministry; communicating with our families effectively; building up a vital volunteer program for our children and family ministry; working with the pastor and other staff to the benefit of programming and advertising; plan and implement effective outreach events such as VBS, Trunk or Treat, Advent Workshop and our Easter Egg Hunt; and encourage the spiritual development of our children.
