The Lenten Season

Lent is a season of spiritual gardening, where we invite God to cultivate our souls. During this time, we seek guidance on what needs tending and what must die to make space for new spiritual growth. All are welcome to join us.

Ash Wednesday | March 5, 2025

6:30pm Worship: We invite you to attend in-person or online on our YouTube channel, as we prepare our journey into the Lenten season accompanied by our choir.

Palm Sunday | April 13, 2025

10am Worship: All are welcome to attend in-person or on our YouTube channel, as we recount Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem. This service will feature our Steel Drum performers.

Holy Week & Easter

Maundy Thursday | April 17, 2025

5pm Akron Family Restaurant: We will gather together at Akron Family Restaurant to break bread and share fellowship at this Maundy Thursday celebration. A special event menu will be offered, and all participants will be expected to pay for their own meals. Reservations will be required so that we have appropriate seating.

Good Friday | April 18, 2025

6:30pm Tenebrae Worship: A service accompanied by organ and the Chancel Choir that involves the successive dimming of the lights as we contemplate the meaning and power of Jesus’ death. You’re invited to attend in-person or on our YouTube channel.

Easter Sunday | April 20, 2025

9am Service: An upbeat and informal celebration with an eclectic music style, that takes place in our Upper Room. You are invited to attend either in-person or online on our YouTube channel. The service will begin with a joyous breakfast!

11am Service: A classic Easter celebration with the wonderful sounds of organ, brass, and choir to fill the space and our hearts with the theme of the day: God’s amazing grace! You are invited to attend either in-person or online on our YouTube channel. The service will be followed by an Easter Egg Hunt for our youngest members and friends.

All Saints Sunday

November 2, 2025

10am Special Service: We gather to celebrate all the saints and loved ones who have touched our lives, whether personally, within our church community, or through our Christian tradition. We invite everyone attending the service to bring photos of special people they wish to commemorate and honor. These photos will be displayed on the chancel, and retrieved before you leave. This service promises to be a memorable and meaningful experience for all who attend.

Thanksgiving Worship

November 23, 2025

10am Special Service: This service will be a time of gratitude and reflection, celebrating the many blessings in our lives. Come together with our church family to give thanks and share in the joy of the season.

 

Advent & Christmas

Longest Night Gathering | December 21, 2025

4:15pm Special Service: For many, the holiday season brings complex emotions—grief, uncertainty, or simply not feeling like celebrating. AkronFCC invites you to our Longest Night Gathering—a gentle space for those carrying loss, worry, or the weight of challenging times, and for those who want to offer their support. Together, we’ll share in music, candle lighting, quiet reflection, communion, and moments of hope, honoring the darkness and welcoming light. Whether you come seeking peace or to stand alongside others, you are welcome.

This service is in-person only. Childcare for ages six months to four years is available.

Christmas Eve Service | December 24, 2025

7pm Service of Lessons and Carols: Join us for a traditional and uplifting service celebrating the birth of Christ, accompanied by majestic music to lift our spirits as we listen to and sing carols. The service will be led by our ministers, featuring a message from the Senior Minister, along with our Chancel choir. The worship will conclude with a candlelit rendition of “Silent Night.”

Childcare for ages six months to four years is available. The Family Room, off the Meetinghouse, will also be open.

New Year’s Eve Day

December 28, 2025

10am Carol Sing Service: Join us for one combined service to welcome in the new year by joining in song and sharing our favorite holiday carols! The Family Room off the Meetinghouse will be open, otherwise children are invited to remain with their families for this service.

9 & 11am Services: Each year we celebrate the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and remember the call to continue the work of seeking justice and bringing healing in our world.
